The Ayahuasca
The Ayahuasca brew is a medicine made from two master plants, the Ayahuasca vein (Banisteriopsis caapi) and the Chacuruna bush (Psychotria vidiris). The Ayahuasca vein is the one that causes the “dizziness” or energetic state during the ceremony; and the Chacuruna provides the vision. This brew has been used since ancestral times by the indigenous people of the Amazon in healing and cleansing ritual ceremonies; to learn about its therapeutic properties, as well the spiritual world and supernatural dimension. They consider it a Master and Sacred Plant, a healing purge, constituting the fundamental element of Shamanism, traditional medicine and the indigenous’ natural view of the world.
As a medicine, Ayahuasca works simultaneously on a physical, energetic and psychical level of the body, causing a cleansing and healing process at all of these levels. It opens a portal of access to, and modifies our state of consciousness, allowing us to observe realities in a wider perspective. This process gives us a greater understanding to then reconcile with our life, relationships, nature, the universe, ourselves and God.
The first indigenous people of the Amazon named Ayahuasca, “Doctor”, because it heals; “Master”, because it teaches; and “Mother”, because it guides. Ayahuasca gives health, knowledge and vision.
